Welcome to the Team App for the Wollongong Roller Hawks. We are the National Wheelchair Basketball team located in Wollongong, NSW. When we entered the National Wheelchair Basketball League (NWBL) in 2001, we became the first regional team to play in the NWBL.
Although many of the athletes who play in the League are Australian representatives and / or Paralympians, they are not classified as 'professional athletes' as their NBL able-bodied players are.
Our volunteer board volunteer their time to enable to smooth running for our players and coaching staff, whom are also volunteers.
We are a not-for-profit organisation, relying on Grants, Commercial Sponsorship and Fund Raising Events to allow our team to play in the NWBL and pay for travel, referees, score bench, uniforms and court hire.
We were the NWBL Champions in 2003 (defeating Brisbane), in 2011 (defeating Perth Wheelcats), and 2012 (defeating Perth Wheelcats). We were also the Bronze Medallist in 2007.
We hope to show you the wonderful skills of our local athletes and look forward to seeing you at a game soon.
